Situated right in the Centenary square and over 10 floors, the Library boasts tons of books, and incredibly diverse collections of archives, photography, rare books and exhibitions that chart the redevelopment of the ever-changing Birmingham. Wander through the library and get surprised by the number of books it has. Literally, you will find a section for whatever you want.
Before you step into the Library, take your time to admire its innovative structure by the brilliant architect Francine Houben in 2010. Marvel at its wood-paneled façades and beautiful gardens that never fail to impress its visitors.
Learn about Shakespeare’s life and writings on the 9th floor in his elegant memorial room that was originally built in the 19th century by John Henry Chamberlain to highlight an intriguing collection of Shakespeare's great works, plays and books.
